Waddington Cricket Club, Lincoln
The project focusses on the design of a new cricket pavilion to replace the existing structure used for storage and player changing which is not fit for purpose.
Upon extensive consultation with Waddington cricket players and members of the parish council, we ascertained that the new single story pavilion needs to not only house appropriate changing facilities for both home and away cricket players and umpires but also include a new club house, these new facilities will be fully accessible to all including the wider community. A kitchen facility with external hatch will also allow for players family and friends to order food whilst watching the games.
The new pavilion building will be designed to sit quietly and sympathetically within its surrounding rural context. The building will have active elevations responding to both the cemetery on the east and the playing field on the west. Detail and craft will play a strong part in the selection and application of materials, with a simple pallet used for the framing of both the exterior and interior spaces.
